The solo post-rock artist from Brisbane first teased this project in May with a set of cryptic social posts and has since remained hush-hush, obscuring his identity. Sonically, he draws inspiration from seminal instrumental powerhouses Sigur Rós and Explosions In The Sky, as well as some lesser known, but equally incredible outfits like Lights and Motion and U137.
“The release of my first piece of music is really exciting, and also pretty daunting! I’ve been working so hard to find my comfort zone with music in the last year.” he says.
“I set off on this journey to create my first batch of instrumental tracks. I’ve had a real passion for film as long as I can remember and soundtracks have always been a massive part of my inspiration for writing music. I dreamt for a long time of hearing my music in great films and I’m hoping someday that dream will become a reality. My debut single Dear Earth is the first step on this exciting trip, the song is conceptually about the search for happiness, without taking too much from the ones we love.”
Dear Earth will officially drop on Friday, September 25th on Apple Music, Spotify and Deezer, pre-save it now. Its epic music-video will follow in early October, and will maintain the same out-of-this-world, cinematic energy. Keep your eyes on Montear’s socials, we’re expecting big things from him in the coming months.
