Apart from Million Dollar Baby-ing about (minus the ending, no spoilers though), Electric follows up their well-received 1769 single and 2023’s EP The Back Woods.
The band says the track “is an unapologetic power anthem with old-school punk vibes, crunchy guitar riffs, fast and heavy drums, and strong, versatile vocals that tackle screaming highs and growling lows that harness the pure energy that comes with taking the stage.” As for the music video, they say “wraps [the single] in a visual bow, thrown into the ring for a bloody boxing match of light and dark. It’s a freeing, dizzying ode to confidence. The Electric music video encapsulates the feeling of release [boxing inspires] and gave us the medium to communicate this expression and through the lens of the sweaty gym, we aimed to create an atmosphere of electricity.”
We reckon the track feels like drinking spiked bottled lightning; femme nitro that’s equal parts The Runaways at their filthiest and White Lung at their most belligerent. Two minutes of wild abandon channelled into jabs of guitar and right hooks thanks to Arabella’s caustic vocals. Feel the heat of their fury or step out of the way!
The song will also see release on a special 7″ vinyl, available for pre-order on the 17th of May.
The band have made strides in a short time by playing alongside Vermantics, Battlesnake, The UNgly Kings, The Valliants and international act S.U.G.A.R, as well as making much vaunted festival appearances at Cherry Fest, Mordi Fest, among others. 1769 saw support from triple j’s Short.Fast.Loud, Scenestr, Music Feeds, AAA Backstage, and other outlets.
Arabella and the Heist is the titular Holly Arabella on lead vocals, Joe Humphries on guitar, Kieran Brooks on bass, and Ryan Jones on drums.
You can catch Arabella and the Heist on the 7th of June for their 7″ launch at the Last Chance Rock n’ Roll Bar in Melbourne, alongside R.U.B and Hail Mary Jane.
