“This is not a hymn to praise humanity; in fact, it points out the misery of not living freely.” says an official statement. “Trapped in a suffocating status quo, people seem to be forced to kill their spirits and are dragged to live in a certain way. Rather than resign yourself, CHOKE invites you to make a paradigm shift and break the mould.”
CHOKE stepped onto the underground scene of Tokyo, Japan in 2017, and have since made a name for themselves with their bold, experimental sound. Despite their roots in metalcore and trap, they’ve also experimented with elements of progressive metal, deathcore, groove metal, and electronic rock. Thematically, the band draws inspiration from the world around them, regularly expressing social criticism and dogma rejection.
CHOKE is REON (Vocals), KVYA NONO (Guitar) and B5 (Bass), with Toshiya Sato (Drums) as support.
The Human Anthem was teased with some short trailers back in August, sending hype levels through the roof.
