Despite the current COVID-19 Pandemic, rest assured the metal scene in Melbourne is in good hands thanks to some hidden gems from across Victoria. Here are a few bands we think you should check out.

Melbourne is not only home to a handful of some of the great Australian bands such as Alpha Wolf, Ocean Grove and Thornhill, but also boasts a variety of up and comers that will leave your jaw on the floor of any music venue.



INHIBITOR

Firstly, with ear tingling vocals and earth-shattering breakdowns, Melbourne based Deathcore band Inhibitor are a band you will want to keep an eye on.

The five-piece hosts an impressive line-up of ex-members from bands such as Her Majesty, Kontact, Eater of the Sky & State of East London, whilst in conjunction with Hollow World. Inhibitor are a perfect combination of experience meets modern deathcore.

Inhibitor are on a mission to resurrect the Melbourne Deathcore scene.

Following the release of Death, a single from their upcoming EP Abhorrence (set for release mid 2020), You cannot help but wonder what these guys can bring to the Deathcore Table.

SUBSIDE

Secondly we have Subside, a four-piece post-hardcore/rock outfit that will leave a floating atmospheric feeling in the air at any live show. Featuring melodically strong vocals paired with a perfect blend of high energy post-hardcore/metalcore and atmospheric ambient post-rock.

Subside are a new band to the scene but should not be missed, for their debut single Wandering Eyes is just a sneak peak into a new era of Melbourne post-hardcore/rock.

OUTLOVED

Lastly, but not least we have Outloved, the post-rock four-piece hailing from regional Victoria. Outloved arrived guns blazing on the scene with their debut single release of Dying to Leave, this track landing them on a few shows across Australia alongside bands such as Ocean Sleeper and ISOTOPES.

This band bring a whole new element to the Melbourne scene. Their latest single Blind & Falling features layers of intricate instrumentation from not only the drums but also the guitars, pair this with the reverb effect on the guitars and you have an atmospheric delight.
