It turns out the Party Posse may not be the greatest band since music’s birth after all. Sydney’s (not Springfield’s) Isotopes are here to give them a red-hot run for their money with their latest single, Die Alone.

WYWFM saw the band flirt with emo and pop-punk, but Die Alone is instead a solid expression of post-hardcore. Pit warriors, it’s time to rejoice because the track boasts screams and one walloping breakdown.

Outside of that, there’s a hefty dose of distortion, syncopated drums and grit (emphasis on the grit). Almost nu-metal-esque vocals add another layer to the track. And then there’s the stadium ready, singalong choruses, backed by a thunderous soundscape. Show us someone who swears they won’t sing along to the lines, “Please tell me I’m dreaming, This all feels so wrong. Still lost now I’m fading into the unknown”, and we’ll show you a liar.

Titanic levels of intensity will always have a home in heavy music, and Isotopes have delivered that in spades.

What ties this track to its predecessor is its heart-on-the-sleeve lyricism. Die Alone sees the band travel through the deepest and darkest parts of their mind. Huge melodies bring this sense of unease to life, and so does the track’s powerful music video, showing each member of the Topes crew coming face-to-face with their fears. Titanic levels of intensity will always have a home in heavy music, and Isotopes have delivered that in spades. And by laying all their cards on the table, they’ve proven they’re anything but one-trick ponies. There’s no doubt Die Alone will shake the souls of listeners for years to come.
