Dear Joey and Brooke, What a wild ride! I just wanted to write to express …
Canberra femme-power warriors Glitoris have been delivering a right royal ruckus over the past 18 months, both in the live realm and off the back of their turbo-charged debut album, The Policy, with numbers such as Trump Card, Spit Hood, Disgrace and the smashing new single, Slut Power raising a giant middle finger to the persecutors of equality.

While the fearless foursome are pissed off and not afraid to tell it like it is, it’s often delivered in a theatrical, humorous context, which makes for an all-inclusive and highly memorable live experience. Importantly, they have the musical chutzpa to back it up, delivering an intoxicating mixture of shouty punk anthems, intermixed with riff heavy, fist raising orchestral rock, with the odd, soaring four-part harmony to boot. They’ll hit you in the guts as well as mess with your mind.
In fitting with their modus operandi, each of the band members have adopted an ironic, politically inspired onstage pseudonym, for the main part referencing a bunch of recent Australian politicians of the bloodletting variety (Keven 007, Tony, Malcolm and new drummer, Scott). And in the lead up to their upcoming tour we fired off a few questions to the riotous ones themselves …
Hysteria: The last time you toured these parts, in 2018, you had Tony on drums, whereas now you have Scott behind the kit. How has this been for the band, and was it a natural evolution in the band’s make up, bringing in ‘Scotty from Marketing’?
Yes it was a natural evolution having Scotty transition over from marketing, and she’s been using those skillz on social media which is great. She’s such a talent on the drums and very technically proficient, we’re so grateful to have found her! She’s also a mermaid from the cosmos which is a new experience for us all.
You’ll shortly be back performing on the Gold Coast, once again playing at that local bastion of punk rock, Vinnies Dive, in Southport. How did you enjoy your last show there and what sort of response did you get from the locals?
Vinnies Dive is an awesome venue. It was still being completed when we last played, hammers and planks of wood around the place. It was pretty packed and raucous last show, with Flangipanis & Koko Uzi revving up the crowd nicely. There was much toilet paper thrown around the place if we remember correctly.
If you attend our shows and feel empowered, we welcome you!

It says on your latest PR that you’ll be bringing “a brand new show to the stage, complete with a powerful new image and a rallying protest befitting our times” .. sounds righteous! Are you able to give us any sort of sneak-peak as to what we can expect this time around in the live realm?
Think Militant Mayhem …
Are you still attracting your rabid fans, aka ‘the Gliterati’ to your live shows?
Not sure if they are rabid, we hope not for the sake of their health. That is a definite yes, doesn’t take much to become a member of the Gliterati. If you attend our shows and feel empowered, we welcome you!
You’ve just released a cracking new single, Slut Power, off your recent album, The Policy. How has the album gone down with the fans since it came out?
According to the commentary from listeners, it is a favourite on high rotation. Especially useful for yelling in cars. People are drawn to different aspects of the record. Some fans love the absurd stuff like My Fucking Car, whereas others love the heavier stuff like The Policy.
What’s on the horizon in the world of Glitoris for the rest of 2020?
We seem to have booked a 17 date national tour, so there’s that. Then we’ll have a break, and probably play some festivals later in the year. We’ll then record the next album \*/
