Dear Joey and Brooke, What a wild ride! I just wanted to write to express …
Hey now, hey now, this is what emo dreams are made of! Adelaide’s Wolf & Chain has returned with Taste of Blood, a track that any VampireFreaks user (circa.2007) would’ve blasted all over their profile page.
CLOWNS: Unleash New Single ‘Sarah’ // TIMES OF GRACE: Jesse Leach On How The New Record Captured Him Reconstructing From The Ground Up REVIEWS: DZ DEATHRAYS: Positive Rising: Part 2 // DESCENDENTS: 9th & Walnut // SLEEP WAKER: Alias // LIGHT THE TORCH: You Will Be The Death Of Me
With it, they’ve shared its theatrical music video. Set in a vampire bar, it sees an undead band perform to patrons drinking human blood. It also leaves room for a sequel, with the end showing both the aftermath of a bar brawl and frontman Jack Cumes in a car boot.
In a statement, Cumes explained the track to be about love turning someone into a monster. “Vampires feel like such an appropriate metaphor for this concept of deadly love. Those feelings can often leave you craving them, feeling withdrawals and not sleeping at night. Often romanticised as the idea of spending eternity in love, Taste of Blood portrays this concept with a darker tone. What appears to be a tall, dark, brooding stranger with inexplicable feelings of love is actually a bloodthirsty stalker who will do anything to have you as their own forever.”
Wolf & Chain released their debut EP, An Honest Mistake, in 2020. They’ve since racked up an almost cult-like following and the support of industry titans like UNIFIED Music Group, who will be distributing this new single. The band had planned to tour with Paperweights and Isotopes but unfortunately had their plans interrupted by lockdown. However, they will still play the Taste of Blood single launch on August 20 at Adelaide’s Crown & Anchor, with tickets available now.
