WAXFLOWER // New Single ‘Again’ released Feat. EYHO’s Caitlin Henry

For the third time this year Brissy pop punk band Waxflower has once again released a new single. But, this time the band has collaborated with Caitlin Henry, you know, that powerhouse vocalist from Eat Your Heart Out?

Again is Waxflower’s latest single that’s been blooming all over the radio and interwebs for the past week after premiering on triple j Unearthed. Again is the follow up to Waxflower’s super chilled-out acoustic track Getting Better released a few months prior in September.

The band described the new single as a “signal of a new era for the pop-punk visionaries”, to which frontman Tristan Higginson describes as the group’s next step, or in his words “a line in the sand”.

Tristan Higginson says the meaning of Again is that it’s a “mantra of hope … It’s a reminder of my capacity to heal when times inevitably get tough. Although it does touch on those times, there is a vein of optimism running through the song that’s new for us”. Again features the additional vocals of Eat Your Heart Out’s Caitlin Henry in the chorus.

The music video to Again is much like a stage performance, and wouldn’t look bad at a music awards ceremony. The video features the band playing, a group of dancers and almost golden lighting, which contrasts really nicely visually against the band’s and dancers’ black attire. Guitarist Nick Hargans says that the band “wanted to provide an abstract representation of the song’s themes: anxiety and hope”.

Waxflower has previously supported bands such as Between You & Me, Stand Atlantic and Sly Withers. Not to mention being international support acts for Simple Plan and The Dangerous Summer. Earlier in the year Waxflower headlined shows around Australia and continued to release singles during the year, including their third single for 2020, Again.
