Waterparks describes the music video as ‘imaginative and surrealist with comic book-like stylings and a bold color palette … [depicting] the band in a pastel dreamworld with superheroic characteristics’. Lowkey As Hell looks like it could have been filmed on the set of Tim Burton’s Edward Scissorhands, particularly with the pastel suburban houses and emphasis on flowers and greenery in the music video, plus with that slightly gothic emo aesthetic.

Blackened hysteria

Lowkey As Hell is a very contrasting song lyrically, “I just cried into a shirt I could never afford last year”, and the chantable chorus of “I’m highkey and lowkey as hell”. Waterparks new track shows the personal growth and success that the band has had in the past year, comparing elements of their lives in the past to their upscaled current situation as a result of rising popularity.

In 2020, Waterparks signed a new deal with 300 Entertainment, and have continued making their music in the predominantly pop-punk genre, but incorporating elements of other musical stylings from a mixing pot of rock, alternative, electronic, pop and hip-hop. Waterparks’ sound is vocally similar to Silverstein and As It Is in terms of a high, pretty vocal range with some growling involved. Lowkey As Hell evidently has faster rhythmic lyrics, much like a hip hop song, but the core baseline is electronic pop punk.

The band’s 2019 album FANDOM added some major resume points to their portfolio, landing them at #2 on the Billboard Top Alternative Albums Chart, breaking into the Top 40 Billboard Top 200, and KERRANG! Gave FANDOM a four out of five. Waterparks have already racked up praise at the Alternative Press Music Awards, winning Breakthrough Artist, and Best International Newcomer from Rock Sound.

Waterparks is mostly known for their fan favourite tunes such as I Miss Having Sex But At Least I Don’t Wanna Die Anymore, Turbulent and Watch What Happens Next.
