Aussie indie rock legends Tired Lion have just dropped their newest single Lie To Me, a powerful, angsty track which accompanies the announcement of their highly anticipated second album Breakfast For Pathetics, due out 20th November.

Lie To Me is about a topic that (unfortunately) all women can relate to—mansplaining. Frontwoman Sophie Hopes belts out the lyrics with some serious power, singing about the purge of the experience of ‘mansplaining’ and reinforces that all women are in control of their own lives. Yes, Queen.

The fiery two-minute track starts off unassuming, before all hell breaks loose and the band drops an absolute bomb of a grunge breakdown in the second half. Tired Lion said that when they’ve played the track live in the past, the crowd’s response “influenced the decision to record it and put it on the new record.” If they needed convincing to release this belter, whatever else they have coming up will surely blow some minds.

Breakfast For Pathetics marks a new chapter for the band. Hopes set out to find a new sense of home by relocating from her native Perth home to Brisbane, right off the back of Tired Lion releasing the iconic debut album Dumb Days. Her experiences both in life and as an artist promise to ring through in the new album, so fans can look forward to sharing this part of her journey.

The album was recorded at The Grove Studios with Aussie indie rock pros Luke Boerdam (Violent Soho) and mixed by Scott Horscroft (DMA’s, The Presets) with influences from the likes of Arches of Loaf, Urusei Yatsura, Duster, Pixies and Pavement.

Lie To Me is available now on all good platforms.

Tired Lion’s upcoming album Breakfast For Pathetics will be dropping 20th November via Dew Process/Universal Music.
