Dear Joey and Brooke, What a wild ride! I just wanted to write to express …
Huge news from the Soul Glo camp! The Philly-based hardcore punk outfit have become the latest members of the Epitaph Records family, and they’ve shared their latest EP, Vol. 2.

The EP dropped on Juneteenth, a day that celebrates the emancipation of those who were enslaved in the United States. It was produced by bassist GG and boasts a three-track deep dive into self-perception, alternative motives of “allies”, the destructive idea of romanticism, and self-confidence. It follows on from February’s Vol.1.
Soul Glo is Pierce Jordan (vocals), Ruben Polo (guitar), Gianmarco “GG” Guerra (bass, vocals, programming), and TJ Stevenson (drums). Their first iteration came together in 2014, with a mission to use hardcore to speak about the intersectionality of gender and race in the American political landscape and the Black American lived experience.
Despite a stack of lineup changes, financial issues and run-ins with the law, they’ve stuck around and are more determined than ever to put their platform to use. In a tweet regarding the EP, they said, “All of us over 25, all of us over 200, three of us n****s. Constant van issues, mental issues, shit with the law. It was hella times we held back ideas because we didn’t have the ability to fully produce them. Shit is truly held together by dried tears and blood. Don’t let anyone say you can’t.”
Vol. 2 is available to stream or purchase now.
