Baby of the Year is a fun, up-tempo romp, with a brilliant early 2000’s vibe and a chorus that fells familiar and also new. The vocals give the song a fun and catchy vibe, alongside some fantastic pop punk playing from the rest of the band, with great drums, exciting guitar and lovely little touches on keyboards, the way that all of the pop punk greats did.

Baby Of The Year is about self-realisation and the inevitable change, in life, that you’ve gotta learn to roll with” Guitarist Ryan Donovan said.

The track was released alongside a brilliantly funny music video, encapsulating the upbeat nature of the song.

Having formed in 2007, Red City Radio have been mainstays in the genre of Punk, with their skill at writing catchy hooks and upbeat songs only growing over their discography.

“We took the album title from the song of the same name,” vocalist/guitarist Garrett Dale says.

“Which is about finding your own paradise–even if that’s just a hard journey you’re going to take. That’s what paradise means to me–a paradise of the mind, finding truth and peace and love through your honest, horrible realities. It’s all how you look at it, all perception. Paradise can even be a prison if you look at it that way.”

This album, the first with new bassist Derik Envy, was recorded at The Cereal Box in Edmond, Oklahoma with the All American Rejects’ Mike Kennerty. With this album the band aim to talk about deep themes and serious matters, while retaining the same sense of fun that made their name in the first place.
