Sunny Queenlander punk band Radolescent released Calling Out last week as a follow up from their debut album Prehab last year. The band describes the new single as “an ode to the modern day round table discussion.” Vocalist and guitarist Isaac Atkinson elaborates saying that “Calling Out depicts the stereotypical late night, substance induced ramblings of Australian nightlife … This story describes a scene in which every person is fighting to be the keynote speaker, with no time for others’ thoughts or opinions.”

Blackened hysteria

Calling Out was mixed by Press Club’s Greg Rietwyk, and mastered by Dan Walker. The track is influenced by Californian punk artists FIDLAR, Wavves, Together Pangea and Weezer, and with local Aussie influence from New South Wales’ Hockey Dad.

Radolescent also announced two new band members making the trio into a quintet, by adding Michael ‘Shoobs’ Schubel and Rachel Gilligan. Together, the band have spent 2020’s lockdown as a time to reflect on what Radolescent call their “reckless and fast paced lifestyles” which helped conjure the concept behind their upcoming EP Excellent People. The band say that their new EP is “a self-reflection on getting old and coming to terms with mental and social consequences of past actions.” The Excellent People EP is set to be released in early 2021, promising ‘an inter-genre sound of new wave punk rock that will have you hook, line and schooner’.

To wrap up Radolescent’s crazy busy work schedule, the band have announced one show at Surfers Paradise’s elsewhere venue in early December with Peach Fur.
