It follows previous single Heavy Tongue and was written by Pridelands, produced by Jamie Marinos and the band, mixed by George Lever at G1 Productions UK (Loathe, Sleep Token) and mastered by Ermin Hamidovic at Systematic Productions AUS (Architects, Northlane, Periphery).
“The Walls is a song about the constant struggles of life, to put it simply. Life can be perceived as a series of hurdles or challenges, and depending on your outlook, this can be a good or a bad thing,” says vocalist Mason Bunt. “Addictions and self-doubt are very common “walls” that many will face in their life, slowing their ambitions to move forward. This song is about raging against the dying of the light, taking the ever-so slight chance of victory and holding onto that hope.”
Bunt went on to discuss the tracks music video, saying: “As the viewer, you are watching this cycle play out as you view the individuals trapped inside the walls, as another side of their life plays out on the screens inside their rooms. Our idea for the visuals was to simply create a room with no exit and no colour and use that as a metaphor for the routine of being trapped in that cycle, repeating the same numbing behaviours that stop you from moving forward into your next metamorphosis.”
In 2019, Pridelands won the chance to perform on the main stage at UNIFY. They’ve continued to tour as much as possible, selling out their Heavy Tongue single show at The Evelyn Hotel in Melbourne just last month.
