The band are best known for their ambiguous mix of different styles of metal, and their recent change in their lineup means that there’s new inspiration and new influences. Resurfaced is more technical and djentier than we’ve heard before, while tying it all together by incorporating styles of both nu-metal and old school metal.

Lyrically, the band explain, “It’s about the struggles with mental health and the issues we need to deal with inside our head and the pain that comes for no reason,” a topic that’s widely relatable and more important than ever right now.

Resurfaced also comes with a visually stunning music video, of the band standing in a ‘mirror,’ saying that it’s “showing the ‘good side’ and the ‘bad side.’ The ‘good side’ shows the band, and the ‘bad side’ represent mental health and that’s the struggle within your head is us playing.”

DisKust have come a long way in their time as a band, and Resurfaced is their strongest release to date. All the instruments are tight, the vocals are on point and the recording and production are perfect. The band played the track at an online streaming event and aid the response was great, but to really appreciate this one we’ll have to open the damn pits again.

They’ve got an EP in the works that will hopefully be dropping later in the year, and when things change, they’ll try and jump on an Australia wide or even overseas tour.
