KARNIVOOL // Announce ‘The Decade Of Sound Awake Livestream’

Huge news for fans of Karnivool! The prog-rockers have announced The Decade of Sound Awake Livestream–an exclusive event coming at you from the Heath Ledger Theatre in Perth, Western Australia.

The one time only show will take place on Wednesday, May 12th at 8pm AEST. It will see the Sound Awake album performed in its entirety, as well as some new material and fan favourite, Fade.

Karnivool had initially hoped to tour Australia in early 2020 but had their plans scrapped twice. While they were unable to tour the East Coast, they still managed to perform in Fremantle. It was the massiveness of these shows that inspired this Livestream. “Diving back into Sound Awake as a complete performance was a sweet reminder of the layers and complexity that make it one of our most important releases.” says frontman Ian Kenny. “The music pushes and pulls in complex directions. I continue to find something new when lost in its emotional turbulence.”

The Decade of Sound Awake Livestream was directed by Matt Sav and mixed by longtime collaborator Jan Kerscher. It will be broadcast across multiple time zones, accommodating viewers all over the world (there’ll be no FOMO here!).

Karnivool dropped Sound Awake back in 2009. It was heavily inspired by the art and science of Cymatics and the state of the world. “This is a record that’s truly dear to the band’s heart,” said Kenny in an Instagram post earlier this week. “It’s been like an old friend of mine ever since it was created. The performance of this record from start to finish… will tick some of those boxes that we think need ticking for you guys.”
