Dear Joey and Brooke, What a wild ride! I just wanted to write to express …
Melbourne’s Future Static blew our minds with their 2020 EP Fatalist.

And just when we thought we’d glued ourselves back together, they’ve gone ahead and done it again with their latest track, Waves—seriously, how lucky are we to exist in the same timeline as these legends?
Now, you might think we sound a little wonderstruck, but give Waves one listen, and we swear you’ll feel the same. Because with their newly appointed frontwoman, Amariah Cook, on board, Future Static has created beautiful chaos. Waves is exceptionally produced, with tight instrumentals and complex songwriting—inspired by the state of flux many creatives felt in the last year. And with power and passion hand in hand, it hits with the intensity of a sledgehammer to the skull.
Once in a while, we’re gifted with a goosebump raising moment of greatness, with the power to create a lasting musical memory. This is one of those moments.
But it’s not just vicious pieces making up this puzzle. Waves is also melodic and progressive and is tied together by the band’s high energy performance. The drums. The riffs. The bass. The screams. The cleans. Every single aspect of this track is dialled up to 11. And it sounds so damn good. Once in a while, we’re gifted with a goosebump raising moment of greatness, with the power to create a lasting musical memory. This is one of those moments. And as far as Future Static go, they deserve all the applause for this memorable slice of modern metal.
