DESCENDENTS // Announce New Record, Share Leading Single

Punk rock veterans Descendents have announced their forthcoming album 9th & Walnut, set to drop on July 23 via Epitaph Records.

The band began work on the record in 2002, under the original lineup of vocalist Milo Aukerman, bassist Tony Lombardo, guitarist Frank Navetta (d.2008), and drummer Bill Stevenson. Unsurprisingly, 9th & Walnut is set to be a huge celebration of their history, even being named after their OG Long Beach practice space.

Alongside the announcement comes its first single, Baby Doncha Know. Baby Doncha Know was maybe the fifth song we learned,” says drummer Bill Stevenson. “We would go out to 9th & Walnut every weekend and practice all day. I mainly just remember being in awe of how ‘a kid my age, who goes to my high school’ could have written all these cool songs. Frank seemed to have a maturity beyond his years. I never asked him who or what it was about. I was just happy to be there with him and Tony.”

The 18-track record will showcase the band’s earliest material, written between 1977 and 1980. It will also include their debut tracks Ride the Wild and It’s a Hectic World, now recorded with Aukerman’s vocals. It will close with a cover of Dave Clark Five’s Glad All Over.

9th & Walnut is available to pre-order now. You can also catch its official tracklist below.
