Dear Joey and Brooke, What a wild ride! I just wanted to write to express …
The one silver lining to this cursed year has been seeing how our local scene has united.

And this has continued with Queensland agency Beats Cartel sharing two massive charity mixtapes.
They’ve teamed up with Support Act, an organisation that aims to support artists, roadies and music workers impacted by the ongoing lockdowns. The project features a whole host of talent, with Volume I (the punk/heavy groove edition) featuring the likes of Beastwars (NZ), Mondo Generator (USA), Lo!, Sumeru and Svetlanas (ITA). Volume II (the psych/stoner edition) also boasts appearances from Nick Oliveri (QOTSA), Elephant Hive (ISR), Transvaal Diamond Syndicate, Rick Dangerous and more.
“Compilations like the Punkorama series from Epitaph and the Fat Music series from Fat Wreck Chords introduced me to some of my favourite bands back in the day. We thought it would be a cool concept to bring back to introduce people to the Beats Cartel familia while raising some funds for Support Act. The pandemic has been disastrous for musicians and the industry at large, so we’re stoked to be able to give something back to Support Act, who have been doing such an important job.” says Beats Cartel agent Rick Trewavas.
Beats Cartel are long-term supporters of the underground blues, rock and heavy scenes. They’ve coordinated over 5,000 lineups in over ten years, notably for Brisbane’s Dead of Winter Festival, Mojo Burning and Aftermath. They are the bookers for the award-winning space Mo’s Desert Clubhouse and have also toured international acts like Radio Moscow, 1000mods, Beastwars and Kadavar (coming soon).
Support a great cause and grab either mixtape through the Beats Cartel Bandcamp. All funds raised will go to Support Act.
