After dropping their stellar debut EP, We Call This Healing (review here), the GC based trio has returned with IDK Myself.

Bodyslamming punk and grunge influences, the track features big drums and even bigger riffs. And it’s definitely not one for the slow jams playlist, instead finding its home in the scenes fast lane. A focus on pacing and sway-worthy instrumentals helps the track achieve bop status while also allowing its darker elements to shine through. These are notably the mellowed out, indie-esque vocals of Kaden Perkinson and the introspective, downbeat lyrics.

IDK Myself has shown a different side to Verum. It’s levelled up from the garage band sound while striking the perfect balance between grit and polish

Emotional and raw, IDK Myself was inspired by Perkinson’s experiences with losing his job and moving out of home. While undoubtedly personal, it also carries an important message to the listener, encouraging them to face their trials and tribulations head-on and grow from them. Aside from bringing an increased sense of maturity to the track, all of this has spotlighted just how much growth has gone on in the band’s camp over the last year.

IDK Myself has shown a different side to Verum. It’s levelled up from the garage band sound while striking the perfect balance between grit and polish—undoubtedly a result of the trio’s partnerships with Micheal Hardy and Tim Maxwell (your favourite LOSER). We could listen to it all day.
