Dear Joey and Brooke, What a wild ride! I just wanted to write to express …
It’s been a long time coming, but Brisbane alt-lords We Set Sail have finally returned with their first taste of new music in over two years.

Well, That’s 13 Years of my Life I’ll Never Get Back is another absolute belter from the band and it brings back the cynical vibes we’ve all missed so much. And as if we weren’t keen enough, they’ve also shared it’s music video!
In a statement, the self confessed sad bastards explained the track to be a celebration of musical longevity, friendship and their monumental 13 year career.
“This song came about towards the end of writing the new record. I remember writing the riff and thinking, ‘it’s super catchy but super sad sounding—perfect We Set Sail.’ Being a band for 13 years is tough—every band I have ever done has lasted a few years at the most. Somehow We Set Sail has lasted this long based solely on us all just getting along and still being stoked to play music together. This song is about that and about how the only reason we do it is for ourselves—so we can not only hang out together, but also create sad pop songs together,” says lyricist and guitarist Paul Voge.
Well, That’s 13 Years of my Life I’ll Never Get Back will feature on the band’s third, self- produced studio album, titled Ritual and Ceremony. Described as a 60 minute emotional journey, the record will dig deep and explore death, strained relationships and running their music career on their terms.
Ritual and Ceremony will officially drop in February, 2021. In the meantime, you can pre-order it through both the bands and False Peak Records official bandcamp.
