When you name your band Lunchtime, it’s a given that you’ll release some pretty tasty tunes. Wait is precisely that, and more.

It’s fuzzy, textured, riffy and heavy. And its moody vocals are the cherry on top, bringing the track’s heavier concepts to life. Thematically, the band was inspired by grief in every form—from death to tainted love and everything in between. And off the back of this, they’ve crafted a whole stack of stunning, poetic lines—the entirety of the dark, last verse being our personal favourite.

Wait is a gritty, grunge soaked offering that’ll leave you pining for the 90s. And it’s also left us pining for the release of their new EP, They’re Just Being Friendly.

We’ve got to show the soundscape of Wait a little more love, though. Not only is it proof of just how hard the five-piece can rock, it’s also infectious, anthemic and loaded with colour. Swerving in and out of memory lane, the band has also embraced influences from all over. So if you’re a fan of grunge, indie or punk—notably icons like Nirvana and Sex Pistols or current heavyweights WAAX and LOSER, you’ll find a whole lot to love here.

All in all, Wait is a gritty, grunge soaked offering that’ll leave you pining for the 90s. And it’s also left us pining for the release of their new EP, They’re Just Being Friendly. Thankfully, it’ll only be a few short weeks before we’re blessed with more earworms.

STICK THIS NEXT TO: WAAX, LOSER, Tired Lion
