The Novocastrians may be relatively new to the scene, but they’ve shown a sense of confidence beyond their years. The EP takes cues from math rock, pop-punk and midwest emo and will bring out the heart-eyes of fans of Tiny Moving Parts, Modern Baseball, and recent The Story So Far.

This genre-bending soundscape is impressive, but what really stands out is the band’s ability to find balance amongst the chaos. Peace Circle ironically shines for its chaotic, punk approach. Daytrip will send listeners into an almost psychedelic daze. Sweet Chilli Nachos wins points for not only its creative title but its extremely addictive nature. And Restart My Heart will pull on your heartstrings with its fluttery riffs. There’s a helluva lot on offer here, but it just works. It’s like a stacked ice cream sundae, and the raw, grungy vocals of Joseph Geyer are just the cherry on top.
