The tour was meant to start on 19 November at Adelaide Entertainment Centre. They were also slated to play a three-date run on the 21st, 22nd, and 30th of November at Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena. A special show at the Newcastle 500 Supercars event was also to take place on 23rd of November.

Doctors had advised guitarist Paul Stanley to rest due to a bad case of influenza, prompting the rescheduling of the tour’s first show in Perth to the end of the run and a cancellation of their New Zealand show. It was hoped bed rest would have him recovered, but additional complications to his throat required more medication and vocal rest than previously expected.

Paul said in a statement: “Words cannot begin to convey our massive disappointment in having to cancel our End Of The Road tour of your incredible country.  Our connection to you is unparalleled and decades deep. We waited as long as we could and held out hope to the last minute that my situation would clear up and we would be able to march forward. Doctor’s orders ultimately have taken precedence and finally we now find ourselves with no choice but to surrender. With heavy hearts, KISS.”

Promoters One World Entertainment and TEG Live stated, “We are devastated with the cancellation of the Australian tour. We’ve been in constant contact with the band in the past few days hoping for a positive outcome. We know how much fans were looking forward to the tour.  We send our best wishes to Paul for a speedy recovery.”

End of the Road marked the final ever tour by the iconic face-painted rockers after leading a chart-topping 45 year career.

The “final” tour of the original line-up came to Australian shores in 2001.

The End of the Road line-up consists of Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, Tommy Thayer and Eric Singer.
