Escape Planet was recorded at The Grove studios in NSW with producer Jack Nigro, who has worked with other artists such as DMA’S, Skegss and Vacations. Kids of Yesterday have compiled 16 tracks of punk rock goodness onto their new album. Escape Planet also features a cover of Tears For Fears’ song Mad World, which starts with full acoustic guitar and soft vocals until it kicks in and steps up the volume halfway through the song with drums and electric guitar.

Blackened hysteria

Escape Planet is the first full length piece from Kids of Yesterday, the band has released many EP’s and singles in the past leading up to their debut album. Previous works include Belated Farewell EP, The Gutter EP, T.V EP, and 2020 singles off the new album such as Reefer Madness, Woman of Stars and their third single, a Mad World Tears For Fears cover.

The decision to record and revive the song Mad World came as a spontaneous recording act, “a late but necessary edition to the album” as the Kids of Yesterday say. Considering the hysterics of the current climate of the world, Kids of Yesterday felt the cover was an appropriate addition to their debut album, after they added their own spin to the song of course.

For their album, Escape Planet, Kids of Yesterday have drawn creative inspiration from artists such as Frenzal Rhomb, Rise Against, Frank Turner and NOFX, while mixing in their own “brash form of punk” onto the record.
