In Hearts Wake are still burning bright on the trail towards their upcoming album Kaliyuga, with a new single for their socially charged track Dystopia.

Dystopia is the fourth single released off Kaliyuga, following on from the more comedic Hellbringer with a more serious message about the state of the world as we see it today.

Dystopia speaks of the fourth cycle and present age of the world known in Hinduism as ‘Kaliyuga’. ‘Kaliyuga’ is often referred to as the dark age due to the predominate traits of discord, disconnection, destruction, materialism, oppression, cruelty and fear.” says vocalist Jake Taylor.

The scenic new video for Dystopia takes viewers through these four age cycles, but rather than being a pessimistic look at the world as it is now, offers a new way forward. The track encourages listeners to question the status quo, offering hope to the world if we all learn to change the way we live on this earth to benefit each other.

“We look for the cause to cast the blame, but humanity need only look itself in the mirror. It is time for us to face and overcome the issues and challenges that currently threaten all life on Earth.” says Taylor.

Alongside the video, the band have announced the release of a fifth variety of Vinyl for pre-order which is, like the previous vinyls, 100% sustainable. The album’s vinyl copies have been pressed on calcium based eco-plastic and packaged in recycled and eco-friendly materials, and after the ‘molten’, ‘ash’, ‘flame’ and ‘ignite’ stock almost sold out within hours of release, the band have made a fifth ‘smoke’ variant available – which was previously set aside for a touring release before COVID-19 put a pause to the band’s immediate tour plans.

In Hearts Wake’s new album Kaliyuga comes out August 7. The total carbon footprint in the making of the album was measured to be 26.37 tonnes of CO2e and has been entirely offset through the purchase of carbon credits in the Yarra Yarra Biodiversity Corridor of Western Australia. All copies of the album will be packaged and manufactured plastic free, using recycled materials.
