DZ Deathrays has announced a national tour this October in support of their fourth album Positive Rising: Part 1.

Joining the band will be Sydney’s Polish Club, punk quartet VOIID and the self-described sweet and savoury femme four-piece The Buoys.

The thrash party hoons have also released Year of the Dog—a pedal to the floor party banger that features vocals from Matt Caughthran of The Bronx. This follows single IN-TO-IT, which dropped last month.

“Matt from The Bronx, one of our all-time favourite bands, drove an hour from his house, came into the vocal booth and nailed his part on, like, the first go,” says DZ Deathrays vocalist and guitarist Shane Parsons. “I felt bad for making him drive so far. But it was also just a showcase of how good a vocalist he is … and that was unreal for me, because now with Lachlan in the band, I’ve been trying to approach things from a vocalist’s perspective, and it shows you how hard you’ve got to work.”

It’s been a huge couple of years for DZ Deathrays. In 2018 the band debuted at #4 on the ARIA charts with their third LP Bloody Lovely and nabbed their third ARIA nomination for Best Rock/Heavy Metal Album. They also celebrated their 10th Anniversary with a MASSIVE national tour that featured support from PUP, The Love Junkies, Ali Barter, Press Club, The Gooch Palms and Polish Club DJs. Showing no signs of slowing down the band has also had a big 2019. Along with the Positive Rising: Part 1 singles, they’ve also released Front Row Hustle, a hip-hop collaboration with Briggs and Trials and Jesswar
