Freedom of Fear formed in 2015 and immediately received a positive response to their debut EP Kingdom of Ashes for their combination of melodic, technical and progressive styles of death metal with brutal simplicity and hard-hitting riffs. They made their live debut at the Adelaide based Armies of Darkness festival in 2016 and have since gone on to support renowned bands such as Ne Obliviscaris, The Ocean Collective (GER), Omnium Gatherum (FIN) and James Norbert Ivanyi.
After experiencing several lineup changes since their formation in 2015, they finally settled on their current lineup in 2018. This has seen their songwriting take on a more technical direction as a result. This can be heard on their new single Purgatorium. The Collin Jeffs directed video for the first single, lifted off their forthcoming debut album, is available for your viewing pleasure below. Freedom of Fear’s debut album Nocturnal Gates will be available worldwide via EVP Recordings on 2nd August.
Freedom of Fear have already begun to expand their fanbase nationally. After capturing attention for their performance at Blacken Open Air Festival in 2018, Freedom of Fear received national radio play on Triple J’s The Racket.
Their fanbase is highly likely to continue to grow exponentially, with interstate touring planned for the rest of 2019, to coincide with the release of the debut album. Make sure to check out the new video for Purgatorium and get ready for when they visit a venue near you!
