Christmas may be around the corner, but Aetherial are giving the spooky season some love with the music video for The Grave Empties Itself.

Shot and produced in Melbourne by the band themselves, the clip plays on classic B-Grade horror tropes and features a getaway scene with treacherous roads, flesh eating zombies and a mysterious girl in the shadows.

We wanted to create a darkwave driving video, like a version of OutRun vs The Day of The Dead type of thing”, says frontman Shep Sheppard. “We have definitely enjoyed making our own videos for this album; what really began as a necessity, has ultimately evolved into an extension of a creative outlet for our music.” 

The Grave Empties Itself features on the band’s second LP, Nameless Horrors released back in October. In our review we described the album  as a “relentless assault of endlessly battering riffs and rapid fire drums that offer little respite”, so if you haven’t yet listened to it you should take this as the sign to do so!

Aetherial is Shep Sheppard (Vocals/Studio Guitar) and Cassandra George (Bass). The duo stepped onto the scene in 2013, bringing a relentless, bone-crushing energy with them. They’ve impressed with their “equal parts dark and devastating” sound and have been lyrically inspired by the human condition and the darkest recesses of the soul, exposing what is lurking behind the false reality of everyday life. Their debut album, The Still Waters of Oblivion was independently released in 2015, before being re-issued in 2017.
