Earthmoving Heaviness

The name of this outlet for Sydney musician Josh Muncke conjures up a completely different type of image than what this latest single projects.

A spine made from sugar would probably not be the greatest attribute for one to have when faced with the earthmoving heaviness and unpredictability this track dispenses as it slams its way through various hard turns.

Looping melodies and almost subliminal backing vocals add yet more dimensions to Sugar Spine’s already complicated trajectory, setting the backdrop for the teeth-gnashing angst and turmoil of Muncke’s voice. While it does seem a little complex for its own good, as a stepping-stone from the previous EP Mirror Talk, this is a solid track.
