SNOWFISH // Release Debut Single ‘Ghost’

Newcastle born band Snowfish have released their debut single Ghost.

Ghost is a song that has much in similar to bands like My Chemical Romance, Muse and The Killers, but has its own flare, featuring a very atmospheric fuzzy bassline, punchy and crisp drums and a lyrics that discuss the way that people get numbed and alienated by social media, turning them into ghosts well before their time. The whole song is held together with production from Jack Nigro that emphasises the talent of the band.

“The song is about feeling overwhelmed by the unrelenting masses of information online” says Jordan Rodrigues. “The song is narrated by a character who has become so disenchanted with the online world that they wish to escape from its grasp on their life”

This literal band of brothers Jordan, Solomon, and Kalan Rodrigues hail from Newcastle, and recorded this track in Grove Studios in the central coast of New South Wales. After forming in 2019 by Jordan and Solomon and revolving through multiple bassists, the brothers landed on one literally from their own backyard, their 15-year-old brother Kalan.

Since the bands formation they have performed at venues such as Lizottes & The Cambridge Hotel, the latter being with performed Last Dinosaurs & Slowly Slowly as part of the triple j Hottest 100 party in January, as well as performing in Australia Aid alongside bands like OpticNerve, Honey Hills, In Mantra and others to raise money for the survivors of the bushfires in January.

Currently, Snowfish have begun to play shows again, both unplugged and plugged as social distancing guidelines ease in their hometown, and plan to continue as long as guidelines permit. This, alongside their acoustic sets they film and put on Instagram, the brothers Rodrigues are making quarantine work for them.
