Nervous is the latest single released from the band’s upcoming fifth album SLEEPS SOCIETY set to be released on Friday 16th April 2021 via Spinefarm Records/Caroline Australia.
The song is inspired by their guitarist Sean Long and his own experiences with anxiety. Nervous explores struggles with mental health as a focal point but also intends for people to draw hope and strength from the song.
Sean says that Nervous is about “accepting your emotions, fears, pains, anxiety, depression—not only accepting them but owning them and becoming one with them completely. It’s about being proud of our emotions… The moment we realise this, we can stop fighting and running away and we can begin the healing process.”
Vocalist/guitarist Simon Neil collaborated with While She Sleeps by adding guest vocals to the new track, he says that “I’ve been a fan of what WSS do, and how they do it for a long time. When Mat and the boys approached me to be a part of their new record it was a no-brainer and Nervous is a towering statement of intent for their new era.”
Nervous is from the band’s upcoming fifth studio album SLEEPS SOCIETY, with 11 tracks in total. While She Sleeps has emphasised the ‘extremely close’ relationship the band has with their fans on this album. During the process of developing and recording SLEEPS SOCIETY, members of the band’s new Sleeps Society subscription service had exclusive perks such as seeing behind the scenes, giving feedback and participating in the new album.
“We did a collection of livestreams from the studio where members could talk to us whilst we were in the development stages of different sections”, guitarist Sean Long says. He adds that “on CALL OF THE VOID we had members send in recordings of them singing a section and the song features over 200 Sleeps Society Members singing together.”
While She Sleeps new album is not only just for fans, but it is created by the band with their fans.
