With tickets going on sale now, the post-hardcore act from the early 2000’s have been discussing their seventh effort If There Is a Light It Will Find You.
“I don’t think people are going to listen to music right now that isn’t serious. They’re taking a look at the shit around them and saying, ‘No, no, no. We need to have a real conversation,” vocalist James “Buddy” Nielson said. “Now, whether that’s dealing with personal sadness, or it’s something political, it still takes things earnestly. It’s all a relative angst.”
If There Is a Light It Will Find You, which received positive reviews on release and reached 57 on the Billboard Charts, shows Senses Fail are a band who are still relevant in the public discourse.
“There’s a song about a mass shooting because it happens all the time now. How are you supposed to process that?” questioned James “Buddy” Nielson. “The track, ‘Gold Jacket, Green Jacket’ is like a State of the Union Address for Millennials who are being told they are failing and not doing enough.”
With songs also dealing with themes of substance abuse like New Jersey Makes, the World Takes Senses Fail prove the band aren’t merely one dimensional.
