Dear Joey and Brooke, What a wild ride! I just wanted to write to express …
You probably already noticed from their recent single Grim, but Repriever are changing things up pretty massively.

Up until recently the Sydneysiders have predominantly been referred to as a prog-metalcore group that specialises in technical song structures, poignant melodies and soaring anthemic metalcore tunes. But based on their two most recent singles, that no longer seems like a fair description. Especially considering the group’s newest single InSpite takes things a level up again, pretty much stepping into the realm of extreme metal.
Inspite feels like as a group Repreiver have started to hone in on their sound and if this marks the direction they are heading in, there’s big things to come.
Adopting sinister breakdowns; unrelenting grooves and an intensity unprecedented in the group’s pre-existing catalog, InSpite feels like a completely new era for the group. But that’s not to say that any of the technicality that you had grown accustomed to is lacking this time around. Instead, it’s just more intense, whilst simultaneously adding some incredibly creative flares. From Josh Stewart’s brutal gutturals at times adopting a staccato delivery to the unique addition of ominous soundscapes like a metronomic clock tone, Inspite feels like as a group Repreiver have started to hone in on their sound and if this marks the direction they are heading in, there’s big things to come.
