Having proudly represented Melbourne on some notable tours over the last six years (including shows with Turnstile, Expire, Blacklisted, Endless Heights, Break the Ice and Mindsnare), the Born Free actively decided to take a little break and focus more on writing and recording.

Blinded is the first taste of new music from Born Free in two years, it is also the first track to be released off their forthcoming record. Details for the record are still to follow—but the band have promised it will be their heaviest and most structured work to date!

The new album was recorded back in winter 2018 at Black Lodge Studios (Old Three Phase Studio) with Mike Deslandes from High Tension. It will be the first to feature new member Josh Manitta (of Carpathian and Warbrain).

Taking on a much more layered and melodic style, the record will be a natural musical progression from their past releases (2015’s Sorrow and 2017’s tape Upon my Head). It will also see the band make greater use of vocalist Nathan Garland’s clean singing. And lyrically? It will focus on the destruction of the planet, internal suffering and a personal take of life, death and everything in between.

Blinded will officially drop on Friday, March 15 through Resist Records. It will be available on all good digital platforms and streaming outlets.

Born Free are also set to play Newcastle’s Hamilton Station Hotel on Friday March 23, headlining Last Ride Records’ 2019 Showcase show which includes Ill Natured, Primitive Blast and Caged Existence and heaps more.

Tickets available here.
