Brisbane metalcore outfit The Brave are gearing up for a huge year in 2020 as …
Big news from Aussie slacker rockers Loser, announcing details of their first full-length record Mindless Joy, out 14 February via Domestic La La.
As a treat, the five-piece has shared new single Golden Things, drawing inspiration from frontman Tim Maxwell’s desire to maintain complete creative freedom, even if commercial success never comes.
Like Golden Things, the LP will take an introspective approach, seeing Maxwell tackle his issues with anxiety and depression against the current of modern technology.
“Being an anxious wreck and being depressed and trying to deal with all that and communicating through telephones with partners, it’s not real any more,” says Maxwell. “And looking at my phone and doing all this stuff is making it worse, but it’s the age we live in. Everyone’s looking into the black mirror, it’s going to be this way forever, just getting worse and worse.”
Mindless Joy follows the release of their huge 2018 EP, Restless Noise. The band spent 2019 on tour, supporting Canadian hardcore icons Fucked Up, and appearing at ‘Til The Wheels Fall Off Festival and BIGSOUND (where they were named as one of Double J’s new Australian rock bands you need to know right now).
Having also wrapped up their own headlining shows, Loser will round out the year by supporting Ruby Fields on her regional tour.
Golden Things joins previously released tracks, Get It All Out and Out of Luck. All will feature on Mindless Joy, available for preorder now.
