Judo CHOP! (it only counts if you say it like THIS) have crashed right out of the dojo and unleashed their debut EP, Shelf Life, onto the world.

It’s a tour de force of sound and has earned the blokes a black belt in the art of delivering killer tunes.

Forget breaking planks of wood. Shelf Life is fiery, and it will break your bloody teeth with the punches of melodic punk goodness it offers. Shred Lords Johnny Beech, Sam Howard and Aaron Braddock (yep, a triple dose!) are a highlight. And with Andre Vikas and Ollie DW on board too, the band has shown no mercy, delivering one crushing track after another.

Mixed in with the soundscape that demands to be played loud are rich, throaty vocals that will send you back to the metal scene of the early 2000s. We almost had to adjust our speakers, believing we heard Jesse Leach of Killswitch Engage instead. And while we’re on the topic, we’ve got to offer up a shout-out to frontman Murray McDonald and his distinctly Australian tone. It’s something that gives the EP that extra bit of flair, setting Judo CHOP! apart.

Shelf Life is a sensei-tional release (we’ll see ourselves out for that one). And what makes it so exciting is the fact that it’s only the beginning. Whatever move Judo CHOP! makes next, we know it’s going to be big.
