The Brisbane native is all about experimentation, and a tangled web of sounds is exactly what’s on offer on his debut EP, Disturbia.

To borrow some words from our national heroes, Disturbia is noice. It’s different. It’s unusual. It kicks off with Blacked Out, a sweltering mish-mash of industrial and rap, driven by emotional lyrics about overcoming manipulation. From the get-go, the influence of the likes of Machine Gun Kelly, Papa Roach and Nine Inch Nails is clear, and this carries through to the remaining four tracks.

Disturbia is anything but ordinary. And as for JAGA, it’s clear he’s not here to conform. If anything he’s here to lead the Aus alt scene into a bold new era.

Disappear adds trap, synths and 808s to the fold, taking inspiration from contemporary hotshots like Lil Aaron. Red Flag and the punchy as hell WTF will have gig-goers singing their lungs out. And record closer Contagious takes the traditional ballad format, and twists it into something dark. With Callen Batson (Days Like This) on board, the EP also offers slick production. But all in all, it is one wild roller coaster ride, and it’ll give you a little more to uncover on each and every listen. Disturbia is anything but ordinary. And as for JAGA, it’s clear he’s not here to conform. If anything he’s here to lead the Aus alt scene into a bold new era.
