Feel Good Hit

Brisbane sonic rock outfit The Buzzing Towers put themselves on the music map when they released their singles Chasing The Sun and its December 2019 follow up Sooner Or Later, and rightly so.

What The Buzzing Towers do is generate a no gimmicks trip down memory lane into the best of 90s indie rock and do so with an endearing sense of charm. Their self-titled EP rounds out the rest of this promising group’s ideas and draws you into a foray of great music.

It’s like Oasis have gone down the pub and had a few but can still put out some banging tunes when it comes to it. It’s a carefree, easy breezy vibe that The Buzzing Towers have going on, and it’s pretty fresh. For a DIY release, The Buzzing Towers make sure no clarity is spared. Where some bands may (unfortunately) lose an opportunity to shine musically because they’ve had to put things together themselves, this is a release where you’re given every chance to get on board with everything The Buzzing Towers have to offer.

The Buzzing Towers make sure no clarity is spared.

Careful detail in everything The Buzzing Towers present helps shape the arc of each song, accenting the character of each of them, if you will. A ramped up drum swell in Alive really sends home the meaning of the song’s title, and oof! That wonderfully finger-lickin’ good guitar solo in Chasing The Sun! So electric and so reminiscent of that 90s English indie wave, nestled neatly into the creative nuances of a 21st century band. There’s details like this peppered throughout this EP that really stick a feel good smile on your face and make for a really entertaining listening session.

This self-titled offering is the perfect way to see out the tail end of summer. Play it getting ready for a festival, play it at an impromptu Sunday BBQ. Heck, play it all year long just because The Buzzing Towers really do know how to rock.
