When the world digs into Bad Wolves third LP, Dear Monsters, they should focus on the hard rock goodness on offer above anything.

With new vocalist Daniel “DL” Laskiewicz (The Acacia Strain) on board, the band has served up something truly monumental.

As with their past records, they’ve championed arena-sized hooks, roaring riffs and melodic moments. But, they’ve also managed to tap into their softer side. Take a clear record highlight, Springfield Summer, gentle with acoustic strums and a whole lot of heart. Wildfire and On The Case make as strong an impression and are some of the ballsiest songs on the record. On The Case, in particular, establishes itself as one of the LPs heavier offerings—with breakdowns and brutal vocals aplenty. There’s also the instrumentally jaw-dropping House of Cards, which honestly should have been Dear Monsters lead single (Sorry, Lifeline!).

Bad Wolves dodged rain, hail and fire to get to the Dear Monsters finish line. And they did it in style.

Bad Wolves have given fans a lot to love, but this does not mean the record is without its faults. The final track, In The Middle, is another contender for the slow jam crown. And while it is a great song, it does leave things on a slightly flat note. We would’ve loved to see the tracklisting shuffled around a bit and for Bad Wolves to really go out with a bang. Ultimately though, if you’re a fan of the likes of Escape The Fate, Papa Roach and Daughtry, you should give this one a chance.
