This dream-team was brought together by their musical history and love for classic pop-punk, and while pairing up to perform covers they ended up deciding to write their own stuff. Stobbart even picked up a pen and wrote her own lyrics for the very first time to release epic debut power track (I Wanna Be) Myself In Someone Else’s Life.

“It was just something I’d never really dabbled in or even thought I’d be able to do!” says Stobbart.

“Once it started rolling it was just a bizarre thing to just conjure up songs that didn’t exist before, and it worked really well for Brendan and I because he’d be able to do guitar parts at home and then send them through to me to write lyrics and a melody to.”

As someone who’s been at the forefront of the band his entire musical career, Horn says, “I’ve always wanted to be the backup guy, I think I’m a backing vocalist trapped in a lead singer’s life.”

“This was a natural evolution of feeling as though my role is in the back rather than the front. I also hate writing lyrics, it’s nice to be able to come up with a cool guitar riff and pass it off to Sam.”

Their debut single (I Wanna Be) Myself In Someone Else’s Life highlights the harmonies that complement one another not only in a musical sense, but as people in general.

“Brendan and I harmonise each other in the sense that Brendan’s the more pessimistic side of the band where I’m more the optimistic side,” says Stobbart.

“For me personally, when I pitched a couple of lines it was coming from the sense that it’s kind of the time for me to chase my goals and be true to myself rather than to fit into everybody else’s niche. For me, it’s an important song about chasing your goals and living for the moment. Brendan kind of had a different take on it so we’ve written that to fir both our ideas.”

Brendan says, “as somebody who’s played music for a long time, I’ve come across a lot of people who aren’t always on the same page and there’s a lot of people’s opinions that you don’t agree with—sometimes you’re even in a band with those people—and it can get really hard to feel like you’re doing the right thing or staying true to yourself.”

“I think a lot of people can relate to that. Sometimes you feel like you’re being pulled in multiple directions by people who don’t necessarily have your best interests at heart. I saw where Sam was coming from and the flipside of that is that there is all this negative energy out there and trying to shrug that off while trying to have your own positive energy.”

As for the future of the band, they say an album is unlikely but there’s a few songs in the chamber waiting to be recorded and unleashed to the world when everything is less up in the air.

“We’re in uncharted territory due to COVID, I don’t even know if we’ll be able to play a gig in six months’ time. We’re focusing on the songs first and getting them out there so people know them and hear them and have an idea of what we’re about so when and if things come around, we can hit the ground running.”

“We want to build our following and get our name out there.”

We The Revelry’s debut single (I Wanna Be) Myself In Someone Else’s Life is available digitally worldwide.
