VICTORIA BITTER // Confirms The Return of VB Hard Yards

Australia’s most iconic bevvy, Victoria Bitter has confirmed that VB Hard Yards will return this year.

The event will give our finest local talent (specifically bands from Queensland, New South Wales, ACT and Victoria) the opportunity to earn a support slot for four gigs that will run through the month of October.

The successful bands will be paired up with some massive local headliners to tear through a string of venues in Melbourne, Sydney, Newcastle and Brisbane. Last year’s NSW-based event saw Byron Bay’s Mini Skirt claim the top prize, grabbing some cash, recording and studio time and an upcoming 7″ with the Cosmic Psychos along the way.

A hard earned thirst for touring

As Ross Knight of Cosmic Psychos explains:

“It’s hard work for touring bands. Booking supports, venues, lighting, logstics, luggage, and even just establishing an audience for your band in different cities is no easy feat. But VB are going to give three young bands the chance to get a bit of help with load in … so to speak”

Those of us less musically talented can still get involved though. Punters will be offered the chance to vote on shortlisted bands next month, before the finalised Hard Yards’ lineup drops in August.

Bands can visit Victoria Bitter’s official site for a chance to enter. To be eligible, all submissions must be placed by July 15th. The winners will also receive a cool $5,000 in cash, and a pre-paid rehearsal room hire to help them prep for their upcoming tour dates.

VB will also be active on their socials during this time, and will be tracking the journey of the bands through the hashtag #vbhardyards.
