Dear Joey and Brooke, What a wild ride! I just wanted to write to express …
Our national treasures Trophy Eyes has shared 27 Club, a new-wave/punk/hardcore tinged masterpiece, and their first release in close to two years.

It follows on from their 2020 single, Figure Eight and is accompanied by a music video. Lead singer and songwriter John Floreani says, “27 Club is an expression of my self-loathing, imposter syndrome and my disdain for being alive in general.
I’ve done my best to numb those feelings by self-medicating most of my adult life- not passively but as an aggressive form of self-punishment. The song centres around one particular night, sometime in 2018, that I’d finally passed out on my back and began choking on my vomit. The person that woke me saved my life that night, but instead of feeling grateful and happy to be alive, all I felt was genuine resentment. Resentment for interrupting what I’ve never been brave enough to do, from happening naturally.”
Trophy Eyes last full-length LP, The American Dream, dropped back in 2018 and debuted at #8 in Australia. It enjoyed massive success on triple j, achieving a spot as a feature album. Its lead single, You Can Count On Me, also cracked the station’s iconic hottest 100 countdown. Following its release, the band headlined tours around the globe, supported the likes of Bring Me The Horizon and appeared at festivals like Groovin The Moo, Reading and Leeds (UK), and Disrupt Festival (US).
