Adelaide’s NO NO NO NO NO recently dropped Sharksfin, a chuggy, ferocious number that took bites out of post-hardcore and punk.

Now, they’ve shared its official music video. Produced by the band’s own Luke Shaw, it digs into the depression and anxiety surrounding guilt and fear. Shaw explains:

“The clip is an extension of the lyrics. I had a friend of a friend of a friend that killed someone in a car accident and went into hiding because he was getting constant death threats, phone calls and people driving by his house. I started writing the clip around this idea and the guilt and fear he must have felt. It morphed into the main character not having actually done anything wrong, but forced into hiding by his own depression/anxiety and the thoughts that go along with that.”

The clip flicks through the months and uses NX5’s bassist Dylan Guest to express paranoia, self-destruction and agony, and how it can manifest as mental baggage – pretty intense stuff, but the perfect match for the track itself.

NO NO NO NO NO really are ones to watch. In 2020, they won the Heavy Award at the SA Music Awards, and they were nominated again in 2021. They’ve also received attention from fellow pop/punk heavyweights such as Eamon Sandwith (The Chats) and Benji Madden (Good Charlotte), the latter praising their cover of the GC classic, Keep Your Hands Off My Girl.

Sharksfin is available to stream now.
