There’s so much to love about pop-punk. It’s fast. It’s fun. And it holds the same energy as someone having the best day of their life.

And while we know we’re biased, we reckon no one does it better than us Aussies. Case in point: Adelaide’s Lickity Split and their vibrant new single, Blinkin.

It’s clear the four-piece, who all met whilst studying pop music at Uni, have a love for the genre. Their big-hearted, nostalgia-soaked sound is a massive tribute to it, specifically the 90s scene and the G.O.A.T.S (blink-182, duh). Outside of blink, Lickity Split has also shown love to The Offspring and All Killer, No Filler era Sum 41. And with the latter two bands touring together at the end of this year, we reckon they’d fit in perfectly as support.

It’s charming, and it represents everything great about pop-punk. We can’t wait to see what the band puts out next.

It’s not just the bouncy riffs and infectious, repetitive melodies that make this track so out of this world though. It’s also the extraterrestrial-inspired lyrics and music video—and we know the almighty Tom DeLonge would be super proud of both. Blinkin may not be entirely innovative, but ultimately, it doesn’t need to be. It’s charming, and it represents everything great about pop-punk. We can’t wait to see what the band puts out next.

STICK THIS NEXT TO: The Offspring, blink-182, Sum 41
