In support of their road crew and local charity Feeding San Diego, As I Lay Dying have pledged all profit from a B-side session from their Shaped By Fire album called Destruction or Strength.
Destruction or Strength will be available on all streaming platforms and digital retailers, including Bandcamp as a ‘pay what you want’ download. They’ve also got a t-shirt for sale featuring the single’s artwork.
As for the donations, part will be getting donated to the As I Lay Dying road crew, whose entire source of income is reliant on the band’s touring schedule. The profit raised from the single will be distributed to alleviate the strain of lost income and work opportunity.
Another portion of the funds will get donated to Feeding San Diego, an organisation from the band’s home city, who are working to distribute food to support students from closed schools who previously relied on nutrition from free and reduced-price school meals.
Feeding San Diego also provides hunger relief to senior citizens, low-income families and workers facing financials uncertainties from unemployment. The remainder of the profits made by As I Lay Dying will be sent here as a monetary contribution.
The band states, “we recognise this is an uneasy climate for everyone right now so there is no pressure to contribute. At the very least, we hope sharing unreleased music will have a positive impact for those of you excited to hear it. Please be safe and kind to one another. We will get through this together.”
