Fresh-faced Sydney rockers Grenade Jumper are coming in hot with their new single Heat Wave.

This energetic new release conjures memories of the pop-punk golden years whilst adding a modern Australian rock edge. With clean, uplifting guitar riffs adorned by vocalist Bianca Davino’s soaring vocal delivery, this band is definitely worth keeping an eye on for anyone who thought punk was dead. 

Heat Wave captures the essence of a young band beginning to mature. When compared to their angst-laced, energy filled previous releases Gazed and Get Ahead, the new single holds a more focused energy—the sound of Grenade Jumper beginning to master their craft. 

The song itself is a summery anthem spreading a message of optimism.

“Heat Wave is ultimately about hope and acceptance—that positive energy is what we strive to exude as a band,” said Davino.

Even Davino’s spirited lyrics capture that positive energy, the essence of youthful summers and a carefully crafted image of carelessness. “It was never easy, to be impossibly carefree,” sings Davino, brutally aware of how much young people care about looking like they don’t give a damn. 

Triple J Unearthed’s Max Quinn caught an early taste of Grenade Jumper’s excellence and couldn’t resist showing the rest of Australia.

“We’ve just started playing their music on Unearthed radio, and it has all the hallmarks of great pop-punk – crunchy chords, heaps of energy and a really catchy melody at the forefront,” said Mr Quinn. 

Part of Grenade Jumper’s appeal is their well-honed live shows. From their first shows in late 2018 to now, Davino’s voice has become well recognized in the scene. UNFD heavyweights Hellions even invited her onstage during their recent tour.
