In true Flaming Wrekage style, the new song gets up close and personal with some issues close to home.
Vocalist/guitarist Dave Lupton explained the thematic intention of the lyrics in The Voiceless in a press statement, saying the song was “pretty challenging to record.”
“The lyrics are profoundly personal and the execution had to be perfect,” Lupton said. “The song tackled growing up with my disabled sister and the challenges that that brings. It was tough for everyone, but none more so than her.
“The main takeaway is overcoming the mental battle within yourself and moving through immense communicative hurdles. I’d like to use this song and video clip to bring to light the great work that disability workers across Australia do, and to help expand the limited resources that are available.”
According to the band, the official music video accompanying the track tells the story of a young girl trapped in silence, her brother trying to reach her to help, the two coming face to face with the harsh realities of barriers seemingly impossible to break.
The gloriously dark new track is the first official single lifted from the band’s forthcoming third studio album Cathedral of Bones.
The album is set to drop on 25th February via Blood Blast Distribution and will be marked by what’s bound to be a colossal hometown launch show at Crowbar on 5th March.
