AVATAR // The Eagle Has Landed, Avatar Are Finally Heading To Australia This August

The excruciating wait is over at last, with Swedish juggernauts Avatar today announcing their first ever Australian tour this August – and you’d better believe they’ve got some surprises lying in wait.

Routinely described as being your favourite metal band’s favourite metal band, Avatar formed way back at the turn of the century, initially rotating lineups before releasing two EPs in 2004, Personal Observations and 4 Reasons To Die, and roaring their way into the zeitgeist via their debut full-length Thoughts of No Tomorrow. A band who now claim superstar cameos and high profile fans, it wasn’t long in their early years as a band before Avatar would tick off being invited by Iron Maiden to tour, and having Vinnie Paul declare that Dimebag would have been jealous of their riffs.

A metal act for the ages, evolving from more melodic death metal territory into a more explorative take on heavy metal and beyond, Avatar fuse a unique and scintillating genre cornucopia that spans industrial, prog metal, unmistakable Swedish flair and beyond, appealing to a dizzying array of listeners without ever losing their hard-earned metal crown.

Currently on the road in America with Veil of Maya and Orbit Culture, with upcoming appearances at Welcome to Rockville 2023, Full Force Festival, Aftershock and Louder Than Life surrounding their Aussie debut headline tour, 2023 is well and truly stacked in Avatar HQ. And while back-to-back shows are locked in for Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane this August, Avatar will also come armed down under with their brand new album Dance Devil Dance which debuted on the Australian iTunes Charts at #1 in Metal, #1 in Rock and swung in at #6 on the overall iTunes Albums Chart upon release. Boasting groove-soaked metal and hypnotic melodics, Dance Devil Dance may be the band’s newest full-length album, but for fans in Australia, 2023 will mark the first time they can catch any of the band’s new material and back catalogue spanning nine albums live in action, following a prolific and ever-growing outcry, including fan petitions and a support group, to finally bring one of the greatest live bands in the history of heavy music to our shores at long last.

One thing is for certain, Australia will definitely not miss out on the full might of Avatar’s production just because we’re on the opposite side of the world, with news that the band will be bringing two cargos packed to the brim over for the stage production.

In command of a sweltering reputation for their performances, otherworldly skills as musicians and a never-ending catalogue of legendary songs, it’s little wonder that the side of stage at every Avatar festival appearance in the US and Europe are always packed to the rafters with rock‘n’roll royalty, soaking in the majesty and pure spectacle that an Avatar show routinely displays. But as to what to expect for the upcoming shows that Aussie fans have waited for decades to experience? One thing is for certain, Australia will definitely not miss out on the full might of Avatar’s production just because we’re on the opposite side of the world, with news that the band will be bringing two cargos packed to the brim over for the stage production.

As the legendary Lou Brutus rightfully declares in the band’s latest press material ahead of the upcoming tour: “Avatar are simply one of the best bands on the planet and also have one of the greatest stage shows you will ever see. I’m counting down the days till I get to catch them again. Hope you’ll check out the new record and catch the live act. You will be glad you did.

There’s unforgettable live shows and then there’s an Avatar live experience; definitely don’t miss out on the chance to witness the long-awaited maiden national Aussie tour for Avatar this August, tickets will be on-sale for this monumental tour this Thursday 27 April at 9:00am. Hail The Apocalypse and see you in the pit!
