ALEXISONFIRE // Reflect On White Privilege, Racism And Misogyny On New Track ‘Complicit’

Earlier this year, Canadian post-hardcore band, Alexisonfire, teased new material, for the first time in nearly a decade, with a series of cryptic posts on social media.

Fans went absolutely nuts when they finally released their fuzzy, doom sounding comeback single Familiar Drugs. Well, the boys are back with even more new music!

Long-term fans will be extremely happy with the classic Alexisonfire, hooky, post-hardcore sound that their most recent single Complicit possesses. It seems to pick right up where they left off all those years ago, dripping with Old Crows/Young Cardinals vibes.

On the politically charged track fighting for inclusivity, frontman George Petit explains, “Complicit is about recognising the unfair advantages that we are afforded as white, heterosexual males. It’s about rejecting regressionist ideas of racism, misogyny and hetero supremacy. It’s about accepting that there is no freedom and no future in a world that is not inclusive.”

Currently, there is no offical word whether these tracks will be standalone singles or part of an EP or studio album, we will have to continue to wait and see! Just enjoy the fact that Alexisonfire are back after all these years!

You can however get your hands on some new merch! Complicit is now available to stream and purchase via DSPs, and is also available on a standard Black 7” vinyl, with a limited pressing of a Translucent Red variant randomly inserted throughout stock quantities.

Along with the 7” vinyl, Alexisonfire will have a new Complicit inspired t-shirt designed by graphic artist Jeremy Dean, best known for his “Wonders of Black Flag” designs.
